Fakhra Salimi

Executive Director, MiRA Resource Centre for Black, Immigrant and Refugee Women / Former Vice President of the Norwegian Women’s Lobby

Fakhra Salimi is Executive Director of the MiRA Resource Centre for Black, Immigrant and Refugee Women. She was a co-founder of the Norwegian Women’s Lobby in 2014 and served as a board member and Vice President until 2016.

Salimi has been involved in women’s rights and North/South issues since 1975. She has been a board member of the Norwegian Centre Against Racism, a board member of the Forum for Women and Development, a member of the advisory council of the Norwegian Study of Power and Democracy, a board member of Oslo University College, and a jury member of the Norwegian government’s Human Rights Prize for Journalists. She has received several prizes, including the Gender Equality Prize, the Ossietzky Prize of PEN Norway, the Public Health Prize, the Girls’ Prize of Plan Norway, the Prize for the Advancement of the Rule of Law of the Norwegian Association of Lawyers, and the Medal of St. Hallvard.
